Today is Disability in Kidlit\u2019s three-year <\/em>anniversary! What was originally intended to be a one-month event has now reached its third birthday, and we could not be more ecstatic!<\/p>\n

Over the past years, we\u2019ve amassed over two hundred reviews<\/a>, articles<\/a>, discussions<\/a>, and interviews<\/a>. We\u2019ve hosted multiple events focused on various<\/a> disabilities<\/a> and<\/a> genres<\/a>. We\u2019ve led Twitter chats<\/a>, compiled numerous book lists<\/a>, and expanded our team<\/a> as the site has grown. It\u2019s been an incredible three years, to say the least.<\/p>\n

To celebrate this milestone, we wanted to do something a little different this month. Every Friday in July we\u2019ll be posting an article written by the Disability in Kidlit team tackling disability representation in a broader way. We\u2019ll discuss terminology dos, don\u2019ts, and whys; the current state of disability representation on MG and YA covers; and more. These will be general resources that will function as\u00a0part of a \u201cstarter kit\u201d for people interested in disability representation.<\/p>\n

That\u2019s not the only exciting thing happening this month, though \u2014 we\u2019re also announcing our official newsletter! Once a month, we\u2019ll be sending subscribers links to recent posts, featured posts from the archives, our most recent call for contributors, news on upcoming events, and more. You can sign up here<\/a>, and the first issue will be sent out at the end of the month.<\/p>\n

Last, but certainly not least, make sure you check back this afternoon for a grand unveiling! We\u2019ll be debuting a project that\u2019s been in the works for over a year and that we hope will be a valuable asset to the kidlit community.<\/p>\n
