Disability in Kidlit will be having a week-long event focusing on blindness in YA/MG! The event will run from December 7-13, and we’ll be featuring reviews of books with blind main characters as well as articles about blindness in young adult literature. We’ll be posting them with the tag “blindness week” and using the hashtag #DiKLBlindnessWeek on Twitter.
We’ve got reviews of Rachel DeWoskin’s Blind, Marie Lu’s The Young Elites, Marcus Sedgwick’s She is Not Invisible, and much more planned. We’re also going to feature articles about blindness cures in fiction and the accessibility of books for visually impaired/blind readers.
We encourage blind and visually impaired readers to Tweet at us or message us on Tumblr with your thoughts on blindness in YA/MG lit, as we really want to make this a conversation. We’re really excited about this event, and we hope you are too!
